Sport edition roof rack question

I’ve searched, but can’t find the answer. Is there some unusual way to install the end caps on the sport edition roof rack? They just have 2 holes that need to align to the rail that is bolted to the 4Runner but I cannot get them to stay in place.

Of all things with doing a rack swap I didn’t anticipate this to be my issue. Sport edition roof rack question

A pic would help a lot. What year 4R? Are you talking about the tubular sport rack? Happy to try to answer but need more info.

Pardon my haste. It’s the sport edition rack end caps. Pics below, though it’s dark so the one pic on the 4Runner isn’t great. They should just snap in best I can tell, but I’m not doing something right apparently.

I had to remove the black gaskets on the bolts. When I took them out I found that my sport roof rack I bought already had gaskets in the bolt holes so in a sense it was double stacking them causing the end cap not to fit

Hmmm, that is good info. These bolts/gaskets came with my stock SR5 rack but I figured it would make sense to use them again on the sport rack. Guess not. I will try without tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip!
