Hood won't lock. Found one spring broken and hanging

2004 sr5, suddenly front hood won't lock. There's a loose hanging rusted spring on the lock. Would that be the problem? Anyone know where to get a replacement for that spring?

Thanks!

It could be the issue, most good auto parts stores sells assorted springs, take the broken one in with you and see if they can match it to some of the ones they sell.

If you have no luck at a auto parts store try looking at your local savage yards and get the spring from a wrecked 4runner or similar Toyota vehicle.

Go to your local Toyota dealer and order the spring that is designed to be there.

Thanks! I got a longer spring from a hardware store, cut it in half and installed. The lock works now.
