Half shaft spline damage
Hey guys,
I am remanning some old half shafts I've had for sometime, anyways when popping the outer joint from the shaft, the snap ring broke and it also sheered away a small section of 2 male splines at the snap ring channel.
I have never had this happen before.
My question is, with such minimal damage should I reuse the shaft or just replace it?
I can send photos upon request, but I cannot upload them here.
Essentially, the snap ring sheered about 1mm of male spline away from 2 splines just on the inner ringed/channel side of the shaft.
I've inspected everything else and it all looks good to reuse, but I've never dealt with such small section of spline damage before.
I'll have to get some new snap rings though.
What does everyone think?
