I have seen so many posts asking on how to install large graphics on the 4runner 4th gen rear window. I would advise do not install graphics that are not made with 3M 1080 vinyl or AVERY Vinyl with air release. Reason you would want to go with those brands is because any other vinyl brand can take about 1 hour per window to install and most likely will have bubbles. I have installed many graphics from Overlook Graphics (
OVERLOOKGRAPHICS) for friends in the area since the American flag trend kicked off. Since then I have not had any issues installing graphics except one time at meet up when a fellow 4runner enthusiast ordered the American flag decal from Etsy and its was made with calendar vinyl Oracol 651. It took about 2 hours to install and even though it was not perfect it had plenty of bubbles. Then the following week the guy's order from OG came using my recommendation and this is the process of the install:
I do not have a install video.
When installing the graphics with 3M 1080 Vinyl.
-Do not install the graphics outside, especially if it's windy. You might misaligned the flag.
-First clean the window with a microfiber sheet/cloth. Make sure there is no dirt or left over microfiber lint on the window that may cause a bubble in the process.
-Align the flag decal to the window. Since the American flag decal for the 4runner 4th gen is a larger square. It is not designed Pre-cut to the window. This is a better option than a pre-cut because it provides less room for error and alignment.
-Spray the window once with window cleaner - Wet install
-Start from the star section of the flag. Peel the backing paper of the graphics by 1 inch and stick the vinyl to surface of the car. Slowly peel the backing paper from the union part to end of the stripes at the same time squeegee the graphics down to surface of the window.
-Once the graphics are squeegee down and the backing paper is remove.
Then start removing the application tape. ( Carefully )
-Once the application tape is remove then use a sharp box cutter knife to start trimming the access vinyl around the window.
-Then use the squeegee to tuck in the vinyl around the window corners to give an the appearance of flush design.
-Congrats you just installed your graphics!
