4th Gen Private Party Value Opinion
Need your opinion of value... location doesn't matter just want to get a consensus of opinion from 4th Gen enthusiasts.
2006 4Runner Sport Edition 4x4 V6
118K miles
Documented service history primarily from dealer and clean Carfax with no accidents.
Excellent condition with ZERO rust or damage of any kind, factory black paint still shines like new. You can tell it was garage kept.
Edit: New tires also.
Price opinions?

$11-13k? Just a guess based on what I paid for mine, what I would think would be reasonable etc. Lots of other factors like maintenance records, tire condition, etc to keep in mind.

Condition, service history, etc. noted in original post. Added new tires as I hadn't noted that originally. This thing is clean and has been exceptionally maintained and garage kept. I just feel the asking price is high so I am polling here.

This car out here would probably be around the 14-15k mark private sale, here in Southern California, probably closer to 18k for dealer prices.

11-13 sounds like a really fair price to me considering the condition and mileage. If it was V8 I would say 13-16. Im located in NC and those were similar to the prices I was seeing. Hard to say though because there aren't a ton with that few of miles anymore

I paid $18k for a 2008 SR5 V6 4x4 with 88k on the clock in 2013. It was a bit high and I did zero research and had never even paid a 4runner a second glance. I saw it at a Dodge dealership of all places, test drove it and took it home. I fell in love. Looking back I could have paid far less but i was sold and it’s currently at 144k with zero issues to speak of. I’m happy with it.
Based on your description, and barring any issues with 4x4 system, I’d say anywhere between $12-$15k depending on area. It’s hard to find clean 4th gens with lowish miles anymore. Just curious, what is the asking price?

I paid $16K at a dealer for my 2006 Sport V8 with 120K miles, in immaculate condition, 3.5 years ago. That was in the Denver area. I would think 3+ years later and with a V6 $13K would be about the max, maybe less for a private sale.

Good feedback so far. Maybe the price isn’t too high after all.

Rather than looking for a "deal", I would ask "is this the vehicle I want, and will it meet my needs?" If it is, you can't go wrong even if the price is seemingly a couple of $K too high. These things hold their value so well and have such longevity that you're not likely to get hurt on a well maintained one. At 120K miles, you've got at least 150K left, given reasonable maintenance. At $13K, that works out to less than 9 cents/mile purchase cost. You can't buy many vehicles for that these days.

Not looking for a “deal”. I just bought an 06 SR5 V6 4x4 in June. It’s 180k and mechanically good with excellent service history, but has a few items that bug me like roof clearcoat fade, etc. all cosmetic really. I’m considering selling it and pursuing the one I’m asking for opinions on instead.

High values and prices are great for the seller but any seller has to remember this. My grandfather used to run oldsmobile dealers in the 50's through the 70's and he always said :
"a vehicle is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it"
