04 V6 UOA results

Go my UOA report today. Thought you guys might be interested.

They say everything looks good. But I noticed sodium levels are a bit high. High sodium can mean coolant leak, but potassium and boron are fine.

Oil is Toyota 5w30. Does anyone know if Toyota 5w30 uses a sodium additive package?

I did drive on the dunes at pismo beach about a month back. Drove through some beach water too. Maybe some salt entered the system some how?

I have now switched to Rotella Gas truck 5w30. So we will see in the next report how that does.

Thanks

Looks like there's a bunch of sodium in the add-pack

Thanks, this helps clear things up.

Now I wait to see how this new Rotella stuff works out. I think this is its first synthetic oil change. The previous owner did it all the dealer and they use their dino 5w30.

At first blush, looks like you can go _way_ longer between oil changes. After a few UOAs I'm up to 7500 mi with Mobil 1 HM, and am still getting readings of FE ~15, TBN > 3.5, and viscosity ~ 10.5. I'm really surprised Blacksone isn't reporting TBN - this seems like a serious omission (I'm using WIX analyses - they're a steal from RockAuto). With M1, Na is on also on the order of ~15.

These are great engines!

Yeah I'm sure I can go longer. This was just a base test to see how my engine is doing. Also since mine is an 04, I want to make sure that there is no coolant in the oil because of HG issues.
This was my first oil change since I owned it.
Plus I was bored and wanted to work on something lol.
