Spare tire question

Regarding spare tire, I have a few questions.

..what is the max size wheel/tire i can have in standard space. And, in what situations is that not going to work (2005, sport v8). Current stuff is 285 x 17

...what are the downsides to driving with my spare that i currently have that is not obv much smaller but stopping when i'm in towing distrance

...ABOVE ASIDE, tell me about having the tire on roof vs. back end vs. keeping under carriage tire. Do you guys just put the tire on the back when you are going out, or leave it there all the time? If on roof, i get it in terms of why, etc... If you don't use the under car option, what do you use the space ffor?

i heard 255 75 17 which i have you can get under there. i have detours offroad knucklebone carrier and love it, it hinges down
for hatch access. lots more clearance under rear end now and departure angle is fabbed with a diagnal cut/this carrier sits close to bumper.

275/70/17 won't fit

ask me how i know....haha. I looked into your question as well. I guess a 4.0L v6 hitch might fit my size, but V8 hitch will not fit 275/70/17 bfg's

I’m able to fit one. It’s a bit worn and deflated, but it fits!

I have a fully aired up 255/75-17 (with tread) in the spare location. 06 V8 AWD (V8 hitch). Have about 3/4" to the pan hard.

I found the spare tire at the local Used Tire place.
I brought along a new Denso TPMS sensor to get installed.
