Which way does the transmission plug gasket go?

Just want to confirm, is the "flat" side toward the drain plug while the other side with ridges (crushing side?) toward the transmission pan? Amazon pictures below. Also, is the torque spec 15 ft/lbs?

You are correct. You should be able to see the way the old one sits when you pull it. I believe the Haynes says something in the 15-20lb range. I have done a couple drain/refills re-using the same gasket despite having a new one and just snugging it up by hand. No issues with leaks.

Yeah, I did a drain and fill and noticed the other day there's a slight leak now, I am thinking I might've placed the gasket the wrong way or just need a new one, also did not over-torque it, just made it snug. Thank you for confirming.
