Front Door Rocker Moldings
New guy with an 05 Sport V6. Bought a mechanically mint 05 with 112k, but not so mint cosmetic items I’m finding and fixing.
One item that I’ve done multiple searches on is the front door lower rocker moldings. Both sides, the top plastic hole that the plastic trim pieces(blue ones) snap into have both broke. These are the ones closest to the back of the door. I even went to snag two black ones to match off a wrecked 05 and both of them were broken. Seems like an extremely fragile corner with age.
Question- anyone have a home brewed fix they concocted or should I just JB weld that corner to the door? Second part to the question. When I pulled them off to assess the situation they have a sealant to keep water out. I’m guessing I just need to run a thin application of black silicone when I end up doing the final reinstall?
Btw this forum is awesome. I have interacted in many different forums for a bunch of different cars and this group really does shine above them all, so thanks for that.
