Breckenridge 4x4 Trip!

So on Monday of this week, the GF and I decided to head up near Breckenridge, CO for a night of camping, and perhaps some wheeling. We found a great camp spot, and some CRAZY trails! I highly recommend it!

Tiger Road is where we were at.

So as soon as we hit the trail, we hit it hard.. a little too hard!!! I had made some brackets for 10" travel ProComp ES9000's that totally sheared off (will be re-doing them with some ribbed/gusseted ones soon) so we went down the mountain and on the highway to Frisco with NO shocks to Lowe's to re-mount my old Rancho RS9000xl's. WOOF!

I bought super long grade 8 bolts, some fat washers, and locktite to do the parking lot fix-mind you, we wheeled on these HARD the next day- I feel as this can be a legit fix IF you are up a creek!!

So once these were fixed, we headed into Breck and got some groceries then headed back up the mountains where we found a slice of heaven!!!

We spent some time fishing that eve, then cooked over the fire. That night, we drowned the ring with 6 gal of water and spread the ash. The next morning, we headed up Middle Swan Fork Trail. Here are some photos!

Crossing the tree-line

Stuck behind a Jeep club that was 18 Jeeps strong!

The view of where we came from..

More photos

So once we broke through the timberline, it was AMAZING. Crazy cold, super windy, and pretty loose terrain. Thank you Toyota!

(Jess, my girlfriend)

Dude, SNOW IN AUGUST?!?!!

At the peak of this mountain (couldnt find a name?) Perhaps St. Johns peak??

At this point, the trail down became pretty technical and thin (I had my mirrors folded in) so I stopped taking photos. We ended up going DOWN on Upper Swan Fork trail down to Breck to eat at Extreme Pizza!!! SO GOOD.

... Some of us at the campground and local fishing...

I highly recommend this trail for anyone with a decent lift and CDL, it's breathtaking!!!

Until next time,

Safe wheeling!!!

I love that area above the Swan River, up on Glacier Ridge and over to Sts. John and/or Deer Creek. Awesome views and fun roads. Looks like you had some great weather as well.

The Wise mountain cabin is a good side trip once you're up there.
