Front Spacer Lift with XREAS

Is it possible to install a 2.5" front spacer/leveler with the XREAS system? If so, how?

you can add spacers, but i wouldn't recommend it, its much more cost effective to just rip out the tired system and go fresh shocks and springs, for me spacers are a band aid, you still need to pay for alignment after doing the work. why invest in a tired system? i like to tell folks who do the same with stereos, why try to add subs or mids and highs to the factory radio and not do it right with aftermarket radio that has why more features and better end results.

^this. XREAS is garbage, XREAS with spacers is more garbagey. If you’re on a budget throw some bilstein shocks & springs all around. If you have a little bit more go with eibach. Save your pennies.

I bought a 2006 v6 4x4 4runner with 192k that had the xreas and a 3" lift front and 2" lift rear. I can tell you that it was horrible. The car was unstable and was dangerous to drive. The xreas suspension was done.

What i did was install 2018 4runner struts and shocks with the spacer lift and that lasted me about 5k. Because of the spacer lift, the rear shocks wore out really quickly.

So now i am ordering bilstien 5100 shocks with Old man emu 885 springs to repair it. Just do it right the first time.

To counter the above statements, I put a 2.5" Daystar spacer lift on my '06 Sport three years and 50,000 miles ago, and it's been just fine. The XREAS is still healthy and rides well, so I see no reason to pull it out until it fails. When it does, I'll probably install Bilstein shocks all the way around.

I really need to chime in with some real experience, not opinions.

OP wants advice on spacers and xreas, not what he should do. His xreas might still be ok.

spacers roughly 150.00, labor- few hours.

4 bilsteins 400.00, 4 springs roughly 600.00 new, upper mounts 100.00, labor 3-500.00. Total roughly 1600.00. Big difference.

I had my spacers on my '06 for 5 years before the xreas crapped out, absolutely no issues during that timeframe. Now replaced with bilsteins. The same spacers are now on my '08 with xreas and still no issues and ride exactly the same without them.

If there is nothing wrong with your xreas system then spacers will be just fine.

I can make you a custom kit in any size you want, we first designed these kits off an Xreas 4Runner to begin with so I know alot about what works etc, BUT, with Xreas you can't do too much front without doing a rear spacer also, or the system will try to compensate. A 2/1 and 3/2 etc is no issue. I tell most people to measure the spacing on all for fenders and then can make you a kit for exactly how you want the truck to sit. Some rake, no rake, etc, etc.

Here's the deal. The RAS crapped out not long ago. Had a mechanic look at it and he replaced the RAS with coils. NOW I'm sitting 22.5" in the rear from center of hub to lip edge but 18.5" front. Don't need a lift in the rear but 3" in the front. (I don't mind a little rake) I have some spacers but when I got to reading, I read it can't be done, it can be done, it's best not to do it........so my question is......

CAN THE FRONT SHOCKS BE DISCONNECTED FROM XREAS WITHOUT HARM TO THE SYSTEM? IF SO, HOW DO I GO ABOUT DOING IT?

You can't, the front and rear shocks are connected so it's either all or nothing.

06 limited, can I go 2" spacer up front? I have to level it out. Suspension is fine, 149k.

Also I don't get the XREAS hate, I've driven all the new 4runners and only the limited I liked. All others rode like 90's body on frame 4x4's, which is why I bought one lol
