Chipped key suddenly doesn’t work

Tried searching to no avail.

2004 4Runner with OEM add on alarm system (forget what it’s called). Literally parked halfway in garage, went to throw the factory bottle jack in the back, so opened/closed the rear hatch, vehicle was unlocked the entire time. Went to get back in to start car to finish backing up and nothing happened. All other electronics functioning perfectly. Don’t hear starter clicking either.

I pulled neg battery cable, still no luck. Run upstairs and get my aftermarket programmed key and it cranks up no problem.

Do chipped keys crap out all the sudden? My only thought is when I turned the car off initially l stuck the key in my rear pocket against my cell phone. Do chipped keys get wiped out like hotel keys???

So I’m dumbfounded. Got in the 4Runner this morning, thought why not try, and the original key that was having an issue works again. Big wtf, primarily because I’d be pissed if I was out and about, not having a spare key, and the problem child key crapped out on me again.

I’m wondering if I did something to piss off the RS3200 plus system and it locked the key out for whatever reason temporarily if that’s even a function.

I found the 4Runner specific RS3200 install manual and am going to be pulling the system out regardless. I don’t really care to have anything more than the stock immobilizer on a 2004 vehicle. All the RS3200 has been doing that I can tell so far is prematurely wearing out the door lock actuators.
