How to read ABS diag codes?

This forum is fantastic. I've learned a bunch over the past few months and have troubleshot my recent ABS light issue a good deal thus far. However, i'm kinda in a jam and thought I'd start a new post for some help.

As other posts suggest, I tried to perform ZPC and also tried test mode in 038004.pdf from the TSB. As soon I as attempt a test by connecting pins 4 and 12 I get a blinking VSC and ABS light in certain patterns (if test mode was successful they would blink steadily according to the TSB). The blink pattern is as follows:

VSC blinks: 43475152.. repeat
ABS blinks: 313235365256.. repeat

At the bottom of 038004.pdf there are some diag codes, but I can't seem to figure out the pattern or perhaps these codes are not listed in TSB. Has anyone come across this before?

I failed to mention I have 05 4Runner sport. I do have CEL on reading P0606... that has been on for several months, also causing the 3 other lights to come on: VSC, TRAC, etc.

The ABS light has not been on with the CEL. ABS has been on for the last 3 weeks. I'm thinking it could be an issue with one of the wires connecting speed sensor. Hopefully the sequence of the above blinking can narrow down the issue.

Update: It appears all of these codes have accumulated over the years. I found in the TSB, if you press the brake 8 times or more during test mode.. all DSCs will be cleared. At which point only the existing problem codes will return.

After clearing the codes, I enabled test mode again connecting pins 4 and 13 in the OBD. The VSA light now blinks 43 (ABS malfunction) and the ABS light 31, which indicates a right front wheel speed sensor issue. I have tested the wiring to the speed sensor with a test light, it is ok. I have purchased a new speed sensor and will try that once it arrives!

You need a code reader that reads ABS & SRS codes. I have one but you appear to live very far away.

I would get the Techstream software as this is the same that the dealerships use and will communicate directly with the ABS system and tell you whats wrong..

Thanks for the reply ghs. I'll keep this in mind, seems like a cheap and easy way of going about it.

The manual way of looking up the blinking light sequence works, its just alittle tricky to figure it out. It's all listed in the TSB which I found in another thread on this site.

I have a similar issue! Over stretched a wheel speed harness while installing a set of 5100’s up front. Had an abs light vsc light and flashing 4wd light. Replaced the harnesses and the abs light and flashing 4wd light went off but the vsc light remains. Tried jumping the two ports and pressing the brake pedal 8 times and nada. The vsc light would blink once then a pause then 3 times. I have a 2018 sr5. Any help would be appreciated
