How much do you think this costed him?

Including tools?

YouTube

What would it cost to do on the 4th gen 4runner?

very open ended.. What is your REAL question?
He's only doing one side, but the combination of all these parts can easily go up over 1k just going with the cheapest possible option.
axles/control arms/bearings/knuckles/full brakes
I would figure out what you can afford and what actually needs replacing, then go from there..

Between 2-4k depending on quality of parts and what tools you have so far.

That's cheaper than I thought it would be. I figured this was a 4-6k kind of job.

Well, he has a 3k rolling tool box and brand name tools with a 2k car.

In real life, SAS could run 2-3k if you do it... 5-6k if you pay someone.

Swapping out a front suspension on a Del-Slow, cheap parts and cheap results.
