Fun at the junk yard yesterday!

Morning all,

My local U pull N pay was having a special yesterday - $65 for all you can carry across a 20' gap. This brought some entertainment, to say the least. Folks were using hoods to carry all kinds of stuff. Two fellas carried a long block, which I thought was awesome. You were allowed to use two folks to carry things but the wheel barrow can be used up to the finish line.

I was alerted by their email system that a 2004 V6 has arrived at the yard so I went to scavange some stuff. I needed various small bits but this special made me grab the sunroof cassette too. At first I just wanted to practice dropping the headliner but seeing how easy it was to drop the sunroof cassette too, figured why not!

I grabbed:
JBL stereo amp
both rear hatch struts
both rear tail lamps
RSCA (side curtain deal) push button plus harness
hardware
roof rack adj knobs
Sunroof cassette.

I took various pics to show y'all what lurks above the headliner, in case you were curious! Once I study the sunroof on the bench and figure out what causes the rattling, I'll share with everyone. Mine is rattling behind the actual glass.

Hmm, seems my work isn't allowing me to upload pics for some reason. Will upload from home.

Check the rods that run along the side of the tracks. The trimmed nylon spacers completely solved the problem for me, there are posts you can search describing what to do. 40 cents and 10 minutes of my time fixed a problem that was driving me crazy.

If that isn’t what’s making noise, you might as well do it anyway while your up there. I only had a rattle on the passenger side, but I put the spacers on both since it’s basically a permanent fix for something that is prone to rattle.

I bet I have the rattle that you're describing which I think is about the glass moving up/down with the frame way more than it should. However, I have some movement of support structure, for lack of a better description, toward the rear that I can stop by stuffing rags up there. This impedes the sliding sun shade deal but it does lessen the noise some what. It's gonna be fun figuring this out.

We used to have a place that did this, back in my youth I remember carrying out 2 doors for an early 80's 2-door Sunbird, one on each shoulder. That must have been a sight to see as I'm smallish and those doors were not.

Good deal for you.
