I have a 2005 SR5. The dealer changed the transmission fluid (and filter?) at 100,000. The T dealer charged me over $400 8 years ago, but I have no idea what was done - but know that the dealer has the right "speciality" equipment for tranny fluid changes for 4runners.
The 4runner now has 144,000 miles and shifts great.
I want to have (or do it myself) a mechanic I know at a good shop with 10 lifts drain 2 (or 4) quarts of Toyota brand ATM, and fill with exactly 2 0r 4 quarts.
I have the nonserviceable 4runner V6 tranny, but it has a drain and fill plug.
Can I do this "my way"? I've heard others have done this.
I bought this fram filter change kit from Amazon, but I want to do a full tranny drain at 230,000 miles - not this year.
