I had to replace my cabin AC/Heat fan today - water came out with it

My 2007 Cabin blower stopped working today here in the North East and its cold. Looked at a couple of videos online and involved removing 4 screws to swap out the fan. Super easy. Fan was 89 bucks from auto zone. It worked perfectly after install.

However, when I removed the fan, it was soaked and about a cup of water came out when it dropped to the floor. About a week ago we had a big rain event, like 4 inches and the 4Runner sits outside on the driveway in the open. But that was a week ago. Does anyone know what's going on?

Thanks!

The water could only get to the fan from the cowl/fresh air inlet under the hood and down through the cabin air filter, or a rust hole in that area, if no rust hole, how it got down the inlet only you can determine, with the inlet is above the cabin air filter, my only guess is if you have a lot of debris/leaves that got built up around the inlet when it rained it could direct water into the inlet, other than those guesses I don't know.

In the winter, using the defroster will turn on the AC compressor to remove humidity. Your ventilation drain may be blocked. You can find the exit on the firewall behind the passenger side exhaust header. Try cleaning it out.

Had to replace mine twice. They (mine) are made in Mexico.

Amazon says this fits my Toyota 2005 4runner Amazon.com: BOXI Heater Blower Motor w/Fan for 2003-2007 Lexus GX470 / 2003-2009 Toyota 4Runner 87103-35060 8710335070: Automotive

Can't remember where I bought the one in my 4runner.

Read the bad reviews as well as the 5 stars.

When they start making noise you have a month of life left.

Not that difficult to replace.
