2006 JBL no sound?

2006 Limited with JBL system (no NAV)
Replaced the radio with Pioneer unit 5 years ago using the adapters to convert the RCA on radio to use the stock amp and speakers, worked great for 5 years. The other day it suddenly stooped producing sound. Radio looks like it works fine but no sound from any source. I checked all fuses for amp and all good. So I replaced the Pioneer radio and still no sound. Figuring it had to be the Toyota amp in the back I bought a factory amp off Ebay and installed it and same issue.

What next? I just want sound not some crazy aftermarket system just music for wife. I don't know what to try please give any input you have.

Mine occasionally doesn't fire up the JBL amp correctly as I'm sure its on the way out. What I typically do is bump the key to start real quick (can do while driving) which then re-starts the radio/amp and then the audio comes back. Mine happens maybe once a week or so, but I would guess its a symptom of the JBL amp dying.

It shut off in July and never made a sound since. I have replaced the AMP and no luck.

My JBL required the use of a turn-on interface. I'm not sure how you managed to get the JBL amp to power up and work with the Pioneer through just some adapters.

No idea either, but worked for 5 years. What did you have to do?

Hi,

What adapters did you use and where did you buy them?

Thanks!

It's been years I don't remember. I'm going to pull it apart again and take a look tonight. I'll post it up.

I used a PAC adapter for the Toyota JBL system. It does amp turn on and interface, as well as steering wheel controls.

PAC RP4.2-TY11 Radiopro4:

RadioPRO 4 Radio Replacement Interface for select Toyota vehicles - PAC

Are the LEDs on the PAC are lighting up with power and steering wheel button presses?

Ok so thanks for all the help. The problem has been solved. Checking the constant power wires to the factory amp (white with blue line) showed that I had 12v on one lead and 6v on the other.??? Also when I turn on the amp they both drop to under 3V one more than other but both low. After getting a hold of the wiring schematic and seeing that both wires are supposed to be bridged together that should have same voltage...Ahh Ha! I cut the factory wires and ran 12V from battery to the two White blue wires into the amp the thing came alive!

I still have no idea how two bridged wires have different voltages I'm sure they are compromised somewhere but I really dont care to find it. Just ran a new wire and I'm happy. Hope this helps someone else out .
