"Zero point calibration undone" error - question
Recently purchased 2003 Sport and it's showing no lights when the ignition switch is on. I also have no lights when I start the engine. However, once I put it in drive or reverse the VSC TRAC and TRAC OFF lights come on. No other lights are on. It runs and drives just fine but I want these lights gone because, obviously, the skid control isn't working.
I stopped at local auto store to run the OBDII code and it came back with the infamous "C1336 - zero point calibration of YAW rate sensor undone". It's the only code it shows.
I ran through this TSB numerous times but after shorting Ts and CG 4 times (or more) in 8 seconds the VSC light is NOT lit. After turning the ignition switch back on the VSC warning light is not lit so I turn the ignition switch off. I still tried connected the TX and CG and turning the ignition on but the light is still off, it does NOT go through the 4 second on and .13 second blink.
The lights stay off until I put it in drive...any ideas?!?

Make sure you are doing all the steps.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Parked flat and level, steering wheel straight.
1. Ensure the shift lever is in Park.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
3. Using SST 09843–18040 (paper clip), repeat a cycle of short and open between terminals Ts and CG of DLC3 4 times or more within 8 seconds.
Verify that the VSC indicator light is lit indicating the recorded zero point is erased.
4. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
5. Be sure the terminals Ts and CG of DLC3 are disconnected.
6. Turn the ignition switch ON.
7. Check that the VSC warning light goes off about 15 seconds after the ignition switch is turned ON.
8. After ensuring that the VSC warning light remains OFF for 2 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.
9. Connect the terminal Ts and CG of DLC3 using SST 09843–18040.
10. Turn the ignition switch ON.
11. After turning the ignition switch ON, check that the VSC warning light is lit for about 4 seconds and then starts quick blinking at 0.13 second intervals.
12. After ensuring the blinking of the VSC warning light for 2 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.
13. Remove the SST from terminals Ts and CG of DLC3.
Drive the vehicle to confirm there are no re–occurring lights or DTCs.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Use 14 and 4.
Use a length of wire so you can sit comfortably and see the dash lights.

BackOff - I must have done that exactly at least 20 times. A couple weeks ago when I had the OBDII code read I tried it so many times my battery drained so far it wouldn't start and I had to put it on the charger, which, while a different issue at least I learned in my garage that I needed a new battery. I made a harness similar to what your picture shows using paper clips and speaker wire. Couldn't get the VSC indicator light in step three to come on no matter how many times I did it.
Just now I tried a different method and just used two paper clips insert into 14 and 4. I bent them so they would easily touch, tried the steps and I'll be damned if it didn't finally work! Both lights are now off. Drove around the neighborhood and they stayed off. Hallelujah! This was the last thing that was bugging me!! Radio replaced, LED interior lights done, bought and installed a few missing interior trim pieces, new floormats and rear deck cover for the dogs, new battery, a couple minor rust spots fixed. I'm good to go for winter and the hunting season now!
Thanks!
Brian

Glad you got it!
Maybe it had to do something with the low battery.
If you have a device like a ScanGauge2, if you disconnect the battery with the device plugged in, it will also kill off the ZPC.
Have to plug in with running engine.
Also these 03-05 are ISO format.
Code readers will kill off the ZPC if they are for the newer, more common CANSF format.

New here too. 2004 Limited 4wd bought a couple weeks ago.
Replaced gear oil in diffs and transfer case, replaced spark plugs, new battery, new rear shocks, and fixed a broken abs wire. Only thing left is C1336 and those VSC-trac and VSC-off lights come on as soon as I move in either drive or reverse. At first they were on all the time, but turned off after I followed the first steps of the calibration instructions. Unfortunately, the actual calibration step does not cause any lights to start flashing.
I tried the zero point calibration and DAC calibration at least 30 times with paper clips and wires with no luck. Tried unplugging the battery for a while before trying again, no difference. No other trouble codes.
The light doesn't even come on when I do the 4 taps within 8 seconds. I love everything about this truck except for those two lights that come on as soon as I start driving. Any advice?

Only thing that comes to mind is that maybe it is related to your ABS wire fix?
Unplug it and look at the pins in the plugs, make sure nothing is bent.
Test continuity, to see if the wire is broken.
The codes in my manual go from p0010 up to p0986.
Not sure what a c1336 is?...right zpc undone
...needs coffee in me.
Yaw rate sensor and skid control ecu could be the next culprits.

I appreciate the response. My fix was to replace the broken wire and the speed sensor code hasn't come back and abs light stays off now.
After digging a little more through this forum, I think that the calibration is not working because I'm in need of an alignment. The steering wheel is turned to 11 o'clock when driving straight. Perhaps the steering angle is tied to the yaw sensor? I will start with an alignment at Toyota since I have a coupon and ask them to perform the calibration afterwards.
Fingers crossed. Hoping I won't have to dig any further into the skid ecu or yaw sensor.

Something else easy to check is your gas cap , that rubber o-ring seal fails and sets off that dash light.

I also found that my ScanngaugeII or reader will kill the zeropoint every time.

Check steering angle
Update:
Got an alignment this morning to straighten the steering wheel and the dealer was then able to recalibrate. They charged $30, but I didn't mind paying it because they gave me $30 off the alignment (although I think it should be included and reset after every alignment at Toyota).
All lights are off and I'm hoping that if the calibration is lost again, I'll be able to just use the paperclips next time. If not, I might invest in Techstream.
I wanted to leave this update in case someone else isn't able to get the calibration to take.
Loving this forum, a wealth of information and helpful people.
