Pioneer DMH-1500NEX

I did a search and can’t find much, seems the unit fits into the 4th Gen. has anyone installed it? How was the install? Did you get the steering wheel controls and jbl system working?

What parts did you use?

I’m looking at a nice deal on a used one I’m thinking of picking up.

Any feedback on this radio is appreciated.

According to Crutchfield it should fit (based on my 2003, non-JBL, non-RDS). I just put a JVC KW-V250B in my 2003 along with replacing the 6x9 front door and 6 1/2" rear door speakers. I paid the little extra to get the Crutchfield rediharness ($25) and install was a BREEZE with all the adapters and harnesses, also got the steering wheel control interface which came wired into the harness as well. They provided everything needed and clear instructions. You can save a few bucks other places but I'd pay a bit more to have things go this easily. Love the new radio!

I just added a 2500NEX to my 06 w/JBL. Used Crutchfield as a parts list and bought everything at Amazon to save ~$100. I used the iDataLink Maestro module and kept my factory amp and steering wheel controls. Being able to custom program your steering wheel buttons is a big plus for me!

Pretty simple to get everything connected and there was enough room to stash the Maestro module under the head unit.

Just picked up a avh-w4500nex on sale today. Crutchfield says it does not fit but bestbuy says it does... We'll see. I already have a Maesto and wiring kit from Crutchfield that I was going to use to move my 2330-nex from my 99 4runner but decided to leave it in there. As luck would have it, all the same parts for that install appear to be what is needed for this one as well.

I'm still gathering other stuff though. I want to put in a back-up camera, some LEDs on the inside of the tailgate, my twist on the rear window camping mod and some other tid bits. May as well do it all at once before the cold gets here.

I do have a question on the radio setup. I have the JBL speakers / amp and am keeping all of that. It appears we just hook into that with a single pair of RCA cables. When you first turn on the radio, do you select network mode or standard mode? I'd think standard, but I'm not sure.

I have it and I like it. It glitches on bluetooth connection sometimes but works well for the most part.
