Can You Override RAS Sensors with XREAS?

I just bought a 2008 Limited with XREAS and would like to get 275/65-18 tires and do the Daystar 2.5” front spacer and override the rear air suspension sensors to increase the rear by 1.5 inches.

I know I will need to push the inner fenders forward and do a little mudflaps trimming, and use Spidertrax 1.5” wheel spacers.

My question is, can you override the sensors using the method people describe even if I have XREAS?

Anything I am missing, or have incorrect?

Thanks!

No they aren't the same thing, RAS is an air bag system in the rear to adjust ride height, XREAS is the shock absorber system where the shocks are hydraulically connected in an X pattern to make the vehicle more stable.

Front Struts

My front struts appear to have some leakage but not from the XREAS connection - just your typical damp sides. Since I just bought the truck, I’m not yet sure if the system works as it should.

Best case is everything is working, and I can do the Daystar 2.5” up front and adjust the RAS.

Question - if the front XREAS struts are shot, does that mean I have to either replace them with XREAS struts or replace all struts with regular ones, like Bilstein 5100?

Thanks!

Time crunch due to sale on 275/65-18 Duratracs but I’m trying to minimize strut and coil replacements due to limited funds.

If any of the XREAS shocks are leaking at all they need to be replaced, not just the fronts, all of them due to age.

You can replace them with OEM XREAS shocks...but they are very expensive, most simply do away with them and replace with standard shocks.

I know that's not what you wanted to hear but it's the facts...you should be fine to replace them later if the ride feels OK for now and wait for them too get worst to replace which gives you time to save some money to do so, just keep an eye on your tire wear in the meantime.

Thanks, that what I figured because I know they are connected diagonally front to back. Yes, not investing in XREAS shocks!

Why so many spacers? They’ll make your truck ride like shit and wear out your shocks (not struts, 4runners don’t have struts)
