The Dawg4Runner is a 2008 4Runner, Sport Edition, 4x4, V8. It was originally purchased as a transport ride for Franky. Its still his ride... except with a few modifications.

Started out the build the by replacing the xreas suspension with Icon extended travel remote resi's up front, Icon piggyback resi's w/shin guards and Downey Offroad springs in the rear. The Downey springs added about 1.5" of lift over stock, rode great and were very comfortable. Once loaded with several hundred pounds of gear, however, they sagged more then I liked so they were replaced with Icon 2" lift springs. Also replaced the panhard bar with an adjustable one from Icon.

The oem uca's were replaced with Icon billet aluminum uca's.

The oem brake lines were replaced with Crown extended braided stainless steel lines.

Body Mount Chop.

The oem tires and wheels were replaced with American Racing ATX Artillery wheels and Cooper Zeon LTZ 285/60/18 tires.

Six weeks after ordering, the Schrockworks front bumper arrived.

Installation was pretty simple and straight forward.

Warn 9.5xp winch with synthetic rope line.

Jaos Aura grill.

Installed HID headlights
OEM

5000K HID

BajaRack MegaMule on top of the factory roof rack.

DeMello Offroad Hybrid Sliders

Replaced the oem roof rack/BajaRack MegaMule with a Perkins Performance roof rack designed by our very own darkie3495 The rack also has adjustable bars and a removable grate that goes over the sunroof opening.

The end clamps for the adjustable bars came bare aluminum. They were bored out and delrin sleeves where made to line them where they clamped onto the rack. Then I had them anodized black.

Rigid Industries E-Series LED 40" Light Bar

I welded a couple of tabs onto the Perkins Rack and the light bar fit perfectly.

Oem FJ Cruiser light switch

Replaced the ATX Artillery wheels and Cooper LTZ tires with Method Race Wheels and Toyo Open Country M/T 295/70/17

CBI rear bumper.

Because of the extra weight from rear bumper, spare tire, and gear, the Icon springs were no longer adequate. I had custom rear springs made by Coil Spring Specialties, ordered through Deaver Spring.
CSS spring specs are:
18" free height
240 / 300lbs variable rate
.671 diam
7.625 coils

From left to right-CSS custom, Icon 2", Downey OffRoad 1.5", oem

AllPro Offroad rear lower links, Wabfab adjustable rear sway bar end links.

AllPro Offroad rear upper links.

AllPro Offroad lower link skids.

IBS Dual Battery System with Odyssey PC 1200 MJT-L secondary battery

The Odyssey battery is mounted on the passenger side between the airbox and the firewall. I have a 750 amp in-line fuse on the cable connecting it to the main battery and 50 amp circuit breaker to the line going into the cabin. The power from the Odessy continues to the back cargo where there is another 50 amp circuit breaker feeding 2 "always powered" 12 volt sockets. The control box for the IBS system is routed into the center console.

Battery mount location. The fuse is mounted in front of the airbox. The relay for the IBS is mounted below the fuse.

The IBS controller/monitor mounted in the center console. I also installed an additional "always powered" 12 volt socket in the console.

The monitor showing the charge status of both batteries.

Both batteries manually linked

The charge status of the batteries after 2 days parked with the ARB Fridge operating and maintaining 31 degrees.

Voltmeter in the rear cargo area. The 2 outlets on the left are "always powered" while the oem outlet on the right is still switched with the ignition.

Yaesu FTM-350AR UHF/VHF transceiver w/Yaesu FGPS-1 GPS Antenna Unit.

The mic clip is attached to a bracket that I made that mounts in the ashtray slot.

The radio chassis is mounted in the rear compartment next to the auxiliary battery power bus.

Yaesu MLS-200-M10 external speaker. I fabricated a bracket for it to mount behind the driver underneath the head rest. The speaker wire is routed under the seat cover.

Diamond K400CNMO Antenna mount w/ either a Comet SBB1NMO or SBB5NMO Antenna.

Adventure Trailer 36-B Composite Drawer and ARB Fridge Slide installation.

I started out by cutting a sheet of 5/8" plywood to fit the rear cargo area and covered it with indoor/outdoor carpet. The plywood was then anchored to the body at the tie down points.

Slide attached to plywood using 5/16" bolts and T-nuts.

The storage drawer is secured by turn buckles attached to tie down points.

A tie down track was installed across the cargo area to secure the back of the drawer.

Recovery gear and tools.

Bed
