New to me 2006 T4r Limited V8

Monday I shall be picking her up! I'll have more pics then.

I'm coming from a 98 t4r 5spd, 4x4, locker setup that has been dead reliable but a little lacking in the power range. I'm also towing a little now.

Looking to do a very mild build on this more for creature comforts than offroad capability.

I like the color, options, and especially the idea of a 2uz v8. She has about 156k on her which inunderstand has cracked manifold problems.

Mods from the get go:

Head unit
Remote start
Header/high flow cat, muffler
235/85 tires from my old one
Bambi bumper
Tailgater protection
Small suspension lift
Dashcam
Upgraded headlights(drive a lot at night, morimoto HID)

I think that should do it for me honestly. Looking forward to reading more and having some kind of input when I learn what makes these things go.

Krypto

I went with a OttoNavi touchscreen headunit a few years ago and have enjoyed it.

I'll check it out. I haven't finished shopping yet. I was highly disappointed the guy who built my bumper is going out of business but I'll find another design I like or build my own this time around. Seems like the 4th gen kind of got left behind but there's some cool stuff out there.

I've had great luck with the Rexing models. This time I will be getting a pro model which uses the capacitor so higher temps don't affect it. Luckily I don't live in the desert anymore but I still like the concept of a no battery versus battery for longevity. I usually keep my cars for about 10 years or so. At least that is the trend so far.

It's a bummer to hear about TNF, your looked great on your 3rd gen! But, he handed the reigns over to SRQ I see, so you might be able to sweet talk him into kicking around some 4th gen TNF plans! Who knows... Looking forward to seeing where you go with the build

I loved it too. Honestly he might kill me but I might just design something really similar to that for the 4th gen. It was a sweet look he had with the hybrid. Imho that was the stockest looking armor bumper running and at around 90-100lbs it was one of the lightest too.

So a funny story about the purchase. I found the gem in Kentucky and got a ride from a friend down there. In Michigan (at least this is the understanding I went with) if you purchase a vehicle out of state you have 3 days to get your butt back to michigan and register it. In Kentucky you have to turn the plates in when you sell the vehicle or they will keep charging you tax indefinitely. So after signing the title over I drove with no license plate back.....no police officer gave me a second look. Very wierd. I thought I was going to get stopped with a stern talking to at least once but I was even followed by one and then he turned off. Not that I was doing something illegal, technically, but I was happy to make it back to michigan and back into my driveway this evening.

I agree! But if I read it right he's staying on with SRQ for contract work to help with new designs. So his bumpers should live on and others will be able to get them. He's had a good reputation with SRQ. So I'd imagine they will continue to be available. Might be a transition period, but that's expected. I know he's planning on a 4th gen at some point, but not sure what his timeline is. He's an awesome guy though that started it from the ground up!

I would also recommend a SAIP or "AIP" bypass immediately. Another weak spot on this engine. The link in my sig should tell you what you need to know, but if you have any questions let me know

I'm going to be taking a look at that tomorrow after I get the frame sorted. I busted all the rust I could get to. Pretty sure it's most of it. I am willing to bet this one was undercoated from the factory so there shouldn't be much on top of the frame.

I shopped for a while to find it. Drove a lot further than I really wanted to but I think I found the right one for me.
