Kenwood DDX6706 upgrade with modified trim adapter and USB Ports, JBL

Just wanted to share the install of a Kenwood DDX6706 with modified Scosche TA2079B Trim. This upgraded a 5 year old JVC touchscreen which had replaced the original JBL head unit. During that install I ran a Metra wiring bundle from the Rear quarter up to the head unit location. This go around, I also replaced the speakers with Rockford Fosgate R169x3 (front), R65X3 (Rear), and R-T1S Tweeters. It sounds far better than the original JBL system did (or the JVC with factory speakers). The Kenwood is a great unit with a lot of features.

The existing Metra adapter that I had with the JVC unit would not work because I modified it for that install. I didn't feel I could modify a new Metra adapter either, because it would be recessed into the dash more than I wanted. If this stereo was recessed per the adapter engineers, it would be hard to press the buttons on the left side of it. My old adapter is pictured in an old back up camera install post: My Back up Camera Install

For this install I used a Scosche adapter which I could modify relatively easy. The one pictured is going to be my template...although, the gaps you see aren't very noticeable in person. I cut the adapter with a crappy dremel tool with cut off wheel. Some day I will buy a new dremel and another adapter, and cut some straight lines in the correct spot to eliminate the gaps.

I also installed a USB flush mount socket for the Android Auto hook up. And, while I was at it, a double USB charger socket with Orange lights to match (both from Amazon).

+Overall:

+This is where I hooked up the USB Charging Adapter next to the 12 power power port by the shifter (all of the stereo connections are soldered and heat shrinked! But, here I got lazy):
