Suspension Suggestions

I have had my Icons on the 4runner since 2013 and they've been amazing. I have had the front's rebuilt a couple years ago after 45k miles of use and the rears are now starting to show they need to be rebuilt...the issue I'm having is having them rebuilt costs three times more than buying new and installing myself...I'm good with that but Icon is suggesting that there is a 20-26 week lead time to purchase and receive their products not in stock...because I'm after the older Icon 2.0 long travel shocks, they are not in stock like the 2.5" versions...regardless, "F" that in my opinion...what are some other shock suggestions that could compliment my current setup? I will get the shocks rebuilt but most likely sell them once done...the rebuild kit is $26...I can't have any down time to "hurry up and wait" though.

If you have any suggestions, I'd be grateful to hear them! Or should I just "deal with it" and rebuild these Icons for reuse?

Also, should I grab new hardware for my rear leaf-pack when I install the Timbren Bumpstops or reuse the OE stuff (no rust, only 84k miles)?

Find a specialty suspension shop near you that does shock rebuilds with a short lead time. How long will it take for the rebuild kit to ship?

But, if it were me, I'd snag some of the Dobinson's IMS or higher stuff instead. Get those installed, rebuild and sell the Icon.

But, that's me and it's easy spending other people's money. lol.

I'll look into the Dobinsons IMS setups...I'd prefer not spend more than brand new Icon...thought I have no problem spending a few dockets more for less lead time...the rebuild kits from Metaltech are in stock and can ship no problem...I am dealing with a specialty suspension shop, though, only for rebuilding...it takes 2 hours per shock they stated and that ends up being close to $700 if I have them reinstall everything too...I have a lift in my barn, just not the ability, or want, for that matter, to rebuild the suspension tubes and need more space suck tools I use every 50k miles...I can surely install the shocks and bump-stops myself....

Yeah, I was wondering when someone might call me out on that "leaf-pack" statement...I was imagining my Tundra's setup and writing about the 4runner...new hardware for installation of the Timbrens...or use the OE stuff...regardless, writing this answered my questions on this...Ha! Thank you Techno for the contemplation you gave me!

I've seen one guy do leaves on his 4th gen, and it was a complete waste of time in my opinion, haha. But sorry, I can't help with your Icon questions. To be honest, I've avoided buying them purely because of the rebuild issue. I think shocks in that price range should perform for way longer than they seem to.

I 100% agree! What pissed me off is Icon doesn't state how long they expect their products to last except in VERY small print in the manual...I called them up and they stated - "ohhh, every 15k-20k miles if you use it as it's intended for...maybe longer if it's just a mall crawler." I was f'n pissed as it costs nearly $1500 to have just the front coilovers rebuilt! Argh! If I were to do it again, and know what I do now, I'd do only a simple montube design and never worry about it again...oh well, lessons learned!
