Front spacer question

So a buddy gave me a brand new set of spacers, but they are for a '05-'15 tacoma/FJ. Question is will they fit a 2003 4runner sport with Xreas? Don't want to tear it down and waste my time if it doesn't work. Thanks!

the spacers will work on 4th gens... but unless they are made for xreas they wont work on xreas 4runners. reason being is that most spacers are designed to bolt into the factory locations on the top, then you just rotate the shock 180* to bolt to the spacers... with xreas you cant rotate the shock due to the fluid line that attaches to the shock.

before i knew this i bought some cheap spacers & found out they wont work with xreas, so i just bought new shocks to replace them with since most xreas systems are about shot by now on 4th gen 4runners.

ohhhhh. didn't think of that! makes sense. did yours start leaking or could you just tell a difference in handling?

no leaking, just very soft & kinda bouncy over dips in the road or low spots on the highway. still felt stable in corners but at 145k & 10 years old on my 08 sport... they needed to be replaced. i replaced all 4 shocks with KYB, used their spring & shock units for the front & kept stock springs in the rear. they ride very nice & are about 10% stiffer than stock, which is not much but enough to make the 4runner feel very stable & firm in situations mentioned above. if you dont do any heavy off roading they are a great replacement shock, but i bet they can handle some decent off roading too. they added about 2" lift in the front compared to teh worn xreas & if you want more you can use your spacers. & they are priced right.

if your 03 has anywhere near 100K... your xreas should be replaced IMO.
