Easy lights swap?
Can anyone tell me if I can just plug'n'go replacing the tail lights on my 03 Ltd. with the newer LED (after market) ones on eBay?
Not the ones that look like Altezza, the ones that are OEM looking.
Like these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4RUNN...Q5fAccessories
I really want to do that upgrade, but only if it's an easy swap.
I guess while I'm at it, how about upgrading my head light assemblies to the newer halo ones? Any comments or suggestions?

i think for 03 models you have to have some adadptor to hook the middle connector which is the led brake lights. for 04 and above its plug and play. search the thread... somebody posted same thing with the 03's.

Thanks for the heads-up. I've done several searches, but none are specific to the '03 to LED. There are hints about it, but no solid information.
I would love to mod the head and tal lights to the newer stuff. It just looks so much cooler.
Anyone else have any input??

haumana,
If I had a pre2006...I wouldn't spend the money on the 2006+ Headlights & Tailights, it's not worth the money.

I have the 2006+ projectors because it came w/ the vehicle, but if I didn't have it, I wouldn't bother getting them.
Because they are expensive, the projection isnt that great & the beam pattern isn't sharp.
I would do a retrofit. I've done a TSX projector retrofit on a Lexus SC300 before.
And I'm sure you want them to look OEM like nothing was done to it...I'm the exact way!!
I included some links for you to check out...

...there's also pictures of HID Kit, TSX, S2K & LS430 projectors on 4Runners.

The retro fit thing looks little to techie/hands-on for me. What's buggin' about the head lights is that the lenses are foggy and need to go. I've tried using a lens cleaner and they helped a lot, but not enough.
I'm just finding that in most instances the aftermarket halo lights are cheaper than the stock replacements. The looks of the halo don't bother me, it's just cheaper, so if I need to replace them, the the cheapest route is what I'm looking at.
The tail lights are a totally different thing for me. I really, really like the way the led ones look. I'm trying to convince my cousin to swap with me - he has an '06.

The headlights need more TLC.
What I did to my neighbor's car, it helped, but his headlights were in dispair already.
Anywho...I used
• 1,000 grit sandpaper
• 2,000 grit sandpaper
• Meguiar's Plastic X
...I wish I had a polishing wheel.
It took that foggy haze right off.
Be sure you submerge the sandpaper in water for at least a minute & constantly apply water when you're sanding.

Hey all,
I just purchased a set of oem LED tails for my 05 and the middle connector doesn't match up. The LED connector is flat and my 05 tails have a square connector. Am i missing something? I have read through and saw the the 05 had direct plug and play. Any help would be appreciated.

Ha ha, well I just didn't realize it was so easy. Originally I pulled the connector off the back of the middle light bulb and started freaking because the connectors weren't the same. Then I realized after I posted that that wouldn't make sense because none of the other light bulbs would get any current. So then after smacking myself in the head for being stupid I realized it was as easy as pulling the light bulb out, snapping the led connector on and mounting. So easy I made it impossible! Guess that's what i get for working 12 hours and trying to do something so simple. The difference is stunning!
