Intermittent Popping spring like noise from reverse to drive??

I have a 2006 Toyota 4Runner limited V6 4wd with 158,000 miles. Every so often when I’m backing out of a parking spot turn the wheel then put form reverse to drive I get a loud noise that sounds like a spring popping of of something. I can feel it through the brake pedal and also slightly through the steering wheel. Any ideas??

That is common on a lot of vehicles. My 08 does the same thing.
I believe it is just due to excess play between the pad/shim & caliper. The pad shifts as the caliper compresses and then hits on the edge due to the rotation of the rotor.
Nothing to be concerned over.

Thanks for the reply! That’s good to hear. I just have never heard it before. I guess since I just had calipers put on recently it makes since.

Usually due to a non-OEM pad/caliper combination. As long as you don't hear any grinding or strange continual/intermittent noises that relate to wheel rotation you'll be fine.
