Advice for installing new struts?

Any advice for installing a new strut setup.....maybe as to what I need to disconnect and/or torque specs of each component? It's a Bilstein 4600 shock w/ OME springs and a 2.5 inch lift spacer.

Just figured I’d get a second opinion from a thread specifically catering to 4th gens. I know you’re not trying to come across as a dick, but maybe refrain from replying next time if you don’t have anything constructive to offer.

he did reply with something constructive, he suggested doing a simple search as there are all kinds of threads on here about changing the shocks with all the info you asked for... specifically catering to 4th gens. or look at the multiple youtube videos on this. or get a repair manual.

& btw, they are not struts, they are coil over shocks in the front.

This is a super basic suspension setup that a ton of people run, and literally half or more of this forum is comprised of lifted runners. There are numerous threads with torque specs and clear instructions.

Let me be more clear this time. You obviously didn't take the time to look at any threads pertaining to the subject you are asking about so why would anyone spend their time helping you if you don't try to help yourself.

Wow, let me be more clear this time. I tried to take the higher road but you sir, truly are a dick. And thank you for the offer, but I have looked up tutorials and such. My thread is titled with the word “advice”, not “help I’m completely clueless as to how to do this.” I was trying to seek the advice of people who had done the installation and potential ISSUES they may have run into.

Screw off my guy, it was his approach to the conversation. Preface something with “not to be a dick” and I’m going to take everything after as a snarky remark. And btw, I have done so...I was merely reaching out to those who have done the installation in order to see if they had any tips/ potential issues.

Have a professional assemble the coil over by installing the coil on the strut and the spacer if it sits under the top cap using an industrial spring compressor. Its makes the final install so much easier/safer then trying to do it yourself. I dont like the idea trying to compress a lift spring on a strut to install a 2.5" if its under the top cap......

Its your call..

whoa bud, why so angry? i wasn't being or trying to be a dick... & his preface was to actually say he wasnt trying to be a jerk & suggested you spend some time & read through all the info on here, you would likely get all the "advice" you would need to do the job. if you got offended by that, it was all on your own.

we would be happy to help if you have a specific question or are stuck while doing it, but again all the info you could ever want like torque specs, what to disconnect etc is on this forum or you tube. thats like going to a library & asking someone to describe a book.

if by chance you're not comfortable doing mechanical work, maybe consider paying a shop or a friend that can do it. again no offense intended, just a suggestion.

these are very basic suspensions & toyota designed it to be a very easy swap. if you have the new springs on the shocks already its easy, if not i would pay a shop to install the spring, its cheap. there is a on the car way to do but if you said you have no clue what you're doing then i would suggest not trying that.

that's my advice. & PS... screw you too, guy!
