Should I use Plasti Dip or the matching paint?

I have a black 4R and I want to paint the silver accent pieces on the front and rear bumpers. would it look too odd if I did them with Plasti Dip? Or should I just get the matching paint?

p.s. I know I need to wash, waiting till after the rain

My vote is paint.

Plasti-Dip is going to be semi-textured finish and you'll never get it true black if you want it to match the paint. Flat black Plasti-dip is basically a gunmetal grey after application!

But, it would be easier, and could remove it if you didn't like it. Pick one and go for it man!

My vote is to leave the silver on there! It looks great as is! Gives a good contrast to the black!

how do you think bronze would look. I've thought about getting bronze wheels, and then getting my badges plated bronze as well. think the bumpers would look odd in bronze. maybe ill have to photoshop a mock up.

i wouldnt recommend that. go black with bronze badge. would look better with glossy if you can but plasti would look decent too. over the years, modding all my vehicles and following forums, etc. i found it isnt too respected to get carried away plastidipping colors or doing a lot of cheap mods like that. to each their own and good luck.

Ahhh I see the problem you're running into now...Yeah I agree, I don't think they would look good bronze, but the cool thing with plastidip is you can try it first and if you don't like it, just peel it off.

Personally I think it would look fantastic with the silver bumper accents left how they are, badges taken off, and these wheels...or if you want a cheaper option the trail editions like I have...

But that's just my .02 and this is your vehicle

I was thinking about going all black as well. Honestly, I wasn't too partial on the black paint, but when I was looking for a 4R I found this one with ~90k miles on it, so I had to get it regardless of the color. I'd get it painted Salsa Pearl Red, but that's going to be a pretty penny.

I love the look of that silver bumper piece, adds nice contrast... If only my 4R wasnt silver color. Ive been thinking of painting by center sections charcoal gray to offset the silver

I recommend plasti-dip. I think the contrast in the black looks good and itll stand out. Plastidip is self leveling, easier to paint and will stick better.

I tried to color match the grill frame/ outside of my grill when I switched to mesh/ satoshi style and even with sanding and primer, I had a hard time getting the paint to stick. It would chip/ flake really easy. That area also is likely to chip/ flake a lot.

I think that plastidip will give the easiest/ most repeatable results

Yeah, maybe I'll plastic dip it. And if I decide to paint it, I can just peel off the dip

A little late to the party but here’s mine with the lower front bumper dipped in case an example is helpful. In my experience, the dip is a nice semigloss black and has been extremely durable.

If anyone is curious, I had the rack off to paint it.

I have a black 4th gen as well and did the plasti-dip. It looks great, is durable and easy to touch up without worrying about overspray.
Although, my truck is a weekend warrior only and let’s just say I don’t worry too much about scratches. If I were to do one of my family‘s daily drivers, (a “nicer” car), I’d probably put the effort in to paint it.
If I get a minute on Monday (leaving for the weekend now) I’ll get some photos for you.

This is the day I destroyed my “extra” front skid - happens 3:10 into the linked video and you can see below how it’s askew. The dip got some scrapes at lower left but it’s been solid through everything on road and off.
