BFG KO2’s
Want to upgrade to a more aggressive looking tire. The KO2’s have been recommended. Wondering about ride and road noise?

Mine have been pretty nice for the two weeks I've owned them now. I don't have any frame of reference other than stock tires, however. And I've only been driving this vehicle for six weeks. But other than that...
Give this post a look:

I had no complaints for the top 40% of tread. Down about half or so and the wet traction isn't just bad, it's terrifying. I think it grips in snow better than it does cold wet asphalt.
Road noise is very low, at most speeds it's a subtle harmonic hum, for a while I thought my drive shafts were making the noise...
If you wheel it, they're a great tire. If your rig becomes a mall crawler like mine has, you'll probably grow to dislike them.
The 56lbs/tire doesn't help the fuel economy. And my ride quality is harsh and aggressive, which I like. Not so bad that I could tell you which side of a quarter was facing upwards driving over it, but I'd notice I drove over a quarter. The E-rated tires I have give solid feedback through the seat, brake pedal, and steering wheel. Though they don't grip overall well, they let you know when they're going to let go well before they do.
But DAMN do they look awesome.
They're a great tire if used for what they were made for.

I've had mine on for about 10k miles. Mainly use my rig for wheeling, as I work from home. In that time i have taken a few road trips in the vehicle (285/70/17 C load K02's) and have had no complaints in terms of road noise. I have heard like stated above wet traction goes downhill quickly with less tread. I plan on keeping them to about 50% treadlife and selling and going 35's.

I've had my BFG K02 265/70/17 set for about a year now (~10K miles). They're great so far. They're even M+S rated (Mud and Snow rated), which I didn't know when I bought them, but its something I definitely need.
One thing to pay attention to is the load rating. This will effect your ride quality (smoothness and road noise). I got load rating C (6 ply rated to 50 psi). No issues with ride quality. But a friend of mine has a set with load rating E (10 ply rated to 80 psi). His ride is stiffer and louder than mine. And its easily noticeable. I believe the load ratings do depend on tire size as well. You should double check on that when looking at a set. Discount tire or tire rack will have some good details on each tire. I'd recommend browsing the websites and reading up on it.
Also make sure you rotate your spare tire in (if you choose to get a full size spare). Will help in the long run.

I'm not sure what size you're looking at, but I run them in a 255/75/17 load range c and like them a lot. Quiet for an AT, durable in the dirt, not terribly heavy and have worked well in all conditions. Load range makes a huge difference in how a tire feels.
I've run cooper at3's on a handful of toyota 4x4s and really like them too, I don't know that the ko2 is exceedingly better than them in any area, but I really like the ko2s and will probably run them on whatever is next.

I'm on my 3rd set. Had two sets on my 3rd gen and now first set on my 4th gen. I love these tires and they wear great. Expect 100k miles. Rotate often to keep them driving smoothly. They are harder on gas though, may 3 or 4 MPG worse than the Michelins that were on before. But traction is way better. Ihave been patiently waiting for the Michelins to wear out so I could get KO2's again.

Wow, that’s a big drop in mileage. I was wondering about that since I have the V8. Anyone else experience a significant drop switching from more of an all season tire?

That drop in mileage is what I measured on my 3rd gen. I didnt care since the traction was so much better. It actually saved me on gas because I didnt have to put it in 4wd. I really havent measured with the V8.

So far, according to the flight computer, I’m about .5-.7 less on the KO2s than the Dunlops on stock size over the last week or two.

All of this!!! I am getting new tires mounted Tuesday. I was back and forth between tires. I am coming off 40k on my bfg mt’s. Mud/off-road amazing tire, any sort of rain/cold they’re complete trash and lose grip immediately. Manager at Mavis (tire place) told me he won’t install/recommend the ko2’s, and def not the MT’s unless someone is just completely dead set upon them. After going in the back and comparing different tires I ended up deciding upon the cooper AT3’s. I really like the Falken Wildpeak AT3’s, super aggressive design and nice tread depth/pattern. In the end it came down to longevity for me. The Cooper’s are rated @ 60k and he said he sees guys come back and get damn near the full 60 out of them, whereas the Falkens he sees come back around 40-45. I commute ~50/day.

I love mine. Had them for about a thousand miles now and my MPG has gone down only about 0.4 (granted it wasn’t great before) they look and ride awesome. I’ve had them on a previous vehicle as well. I went from the factory size tire to a 285/70/17. Road noise is very minimal.

I put about 20K on a set, and give them a solid C+.
They look great, which I think is the most honest compliment I would give them. Otherwise they are a decent tire. Not great at anything. Not bad-mouthing them - I certainly wouldn't throw them away if the came on a rig or if there was a sweet 50% off sale somewhere - but for the same money I can think of other tires I like better.
Incidentally, had a set of General Grabber A/T's, which have a knock-off BFG A/T tread design. I liked them much better - they performed about the same but wore better and were definitely cheaper.
