Whats that lil flip up doohickey on back of console???

On the back of my center console, under the rear A/C vents, there is a large U-shaped, well, thing-a-muh-bob that flips up but does not seem to really do anything but stick straight back. I have no idea WTF this thing is for. Anyone??

I'll post pics if needed.

Or you can just slide a plastic grocery bag in there so the kids can throw their junk, like their wrappers and stuff, in there so they don't trash your truck.
 
Damn! That's one expensive trash bag!

Anyone knows any cheap alternative other than a regular grocery plastic bag? ;-)
 
Only thing is, I wish it didnt say Hilux on it, but 4runner. Is this just not an option in the states?? If so, why do our vehicles retain the bag holder if we can't get an american version of the trash bag?
 
The Hilux, is what they call the 4Runner in Japan. So it you want to go back to the roots of your truck, that's what they call it in japan. This is not offered in the USA. Japan gets all the goodies.

Cut a cardboard box to size. So that everyone will know it's the real thing, take a marker and write "Hilux Surf" on the side.

hahaha.

ii want one but i cant justify it. i did try to looking for one of those insulated lunch bags. i coudn't find a black one or a siver/grey. i wanted a trashbag or cooler for ice cold drinks. i was just gonna add the strap and velcro.

if any1 finds one let me know.
