Roof Rack Cover Blew Off -- easy place to get replacement?

Hi -- I've been a lurker for a while. I got a 2005 4runner SR5 V6 about a month ago, just before I left for vacation I noticed one of the covers on to roof rack that covers the bolts was missing. It used to be there before so I am guessing I got unlucky and it came loose.

Anyway I am looking for a place to get a replacement. My 4runner is black and I'd like an OEM piece if possible.

In this illustration it is part #6 and I am missing the rear passenger side cover.

Illustration

The link is the only place I've even found it described and they to not seem to have one as there is no MSRP or actual price.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I just ordered mine from the dealer. $52 my cost. I don't know what retail is. I am guessing it was stolen, I don't think they would come loose and fly off.

Why not see if the dealer will replace as a warranty item? Worst they can do is say no. If they replace it, great for you. If not, then you can buy it from Patrznet.

mine was loose for some time, i got the dealer to replace it under warranty. complain to your dealer and to toyota, i thought mine was an isolated incident, but perhaps this is a factory problem. the more complaints, the better chance others will have of getting it replaced for free.

Hey everyone, same thing happened to me - my rear cover flew off (silver trim roof rack).

Anyone had any luck finding replacement covers for less than $100?

This is a serious flaw in these covers. I've replaced two...I needed a quick wash one time and went through the car wash (touchless kind) and 30 miles later at home realized it was off.

Another time, somewhere between a 186 from Chicago, IL to Arcola, IL another cover blew off. They ain't cheap to replace either, for what they are. Hence why I'm looking for a sport rack.

black electrical tape neatly applied around the base will ensure that the only way they will come off is if someone intentionally removes them.

I just knocked mine off while cleaning the snow off so I am going to use a little black RTV to hold it on better.

Wow... I wish I had the same problem. First month or two when I bought the 4Runner I had thought about measuring the bolt spacing and such for the roof rack. Cracked a piece of the cover off before it even budged. Still have that cover with small piece missing.

I wonder why some seem to stay on like cement and others pop off like party favours?

Geez, had no idea so many people had this same issue...

Yeah received a quote of $85 at one dealership too...still that's a ton of $$ for a shiny piece of plastic...
