Another blend door thread

2005 4.0 V6

Since I purchased my 4runner this time last year I have had no heat on the passenger side. Lovely and warm on the drivers side but my wife is not overly keen to go out in the 4runner with the weather being a bit cooler. I have read most of the posts on the forum including some with very helpful pics.

On eBay I found a brand new air mix actuator for only $45. A little plastic piece was broken off the corner but I figured this doesn't interfere with the operation of the actuator and at that price it was a really good purchase.

So today I set about trying to install it, I removed the glove box along with the hidden one. First off I was shocked to see a screw missing from the top actuator and one of the pins not clipped so it didn't move. I sorted that and put a new screw in, vents all seem to be working correctly.

Back to the air mix actuator, I could get the screw on the left and the one on the bottom but could not access the top right screw. I tried various screwdrivers and small right angled ratchets but no luck. 2 hours later and it was starting to get dark so I gave up, honestly I can't see how to remove that screw.

What am I missing? Any tips greatly appreciated to remove this bugger of a screw.

I have struggled to sort problems with the 4runner since I bought it. Permanent check engine light for an ecu and an o2 sensor and catalytic converter that have been replaced. The car runs well but the lights drive me nuts, it's getting to the stage where I feel like selling it and just losing a chunk to not have to worry about it any more.
