Question Adding transmission cooler V8

Ive seen several threads of replacing the small oem transmission cooler, but has anyone left the oem in place and added a secondary cooler inline?

I think replacing it makes more sense to be honest, rather than maintaining a weak link in an old cooler, replacing it means less connections to leak as well. Plus, its not like you'll save that much going to a slightly larger cooler alone rather than a small cooler in addition to the factory unit.

To answer your question..yes I have seen at least 2 members here who have added a second trans cooler..but I agree with JVC8790, if I were doing to have another trans cooler I would replace the OEM with a larger aftermarket cooler.

I also agree that replacing the oem trans cooler with a larger unit is the better way to go. One note of caution, be sure to install the new cooler with the connections lines on top. If you install it with the lines on the bottom, you might get air trapped in the top of the cooler that will not flush out. Don't ask me how I know.......
