x2 on the sway bar bushing suggestion.

Front end clunk

I get a front end noise going over dips or bumps. I’ve removed the skip plates and the sway bar including the links but no luck.. the sound didn’t go away and it drives me crazy. I have bilstein 5100 installed about 4 years ago and also had my LCA’s replaced about 2 years ago. Any ideas what might be the issue?

Front end rattle.

Check pad retaining clips. I had a similar issue. Never had any, installed a set, like $4. Rattle gone.

Hey did you ever figure out what the noise was or did you sell you runner?

It seems to be louder on passenger side but Audible from both sides
It happens when rolling on flat smooth pavement and bumps don’t make it that much worse
At first I thought it was my skid plates but they’re tight so I am 96% sure that’s not it
I can reproduce the sound by solidly hitting the top middle of the tire
It is definitely a metal on metal rattle but I can’t find it
From a quick check in the dark, my skid plates are tight, the brake rotor shields are tight and the exhaust heat guards are tight
Hey I know this is about 5-6 years later and not sure if this will help anyone. I do know that this was the thread I found when searching for a fix on 2010 sr5. After plenty of tightening this and that and replacing sway bar links and CV joints, It came down to the brake retaining clips on the front disc brakes. With those retaining clips gone the rods that hold the brakes in place rattle like loose change. $13.58 fixed my whole rattle on my front end. Hope this helps!

Yes I removed the factory steering rack mounting bolts and replaced them with much larger grade 8 1/2" bolts. Had to drill out the stock crossmember to fit them but pretty much zero slop in the steering now and no clunks.
