Aftermarket Radio Question

Tried this in the radio upgrades thread, but given the lack of responses I figured I'd try a dedicated thread. Here is what I posted previously:

About a year ago, I got a JVC KW-V840BT in-dash entertainment system installed. In general I've been very happy with it. That said, recently it has started just randomly turning off, It then reboots a few seconds later, and eventually a screen will come up saying I need to park the car, turn off the ignition, and then turn it back on. I e-mailed JVC to see if they can be of assistance, but just thought I'd try here too. They came back suggesting that I check the connections & the fuse on the back of the unit. The connections appeared to be fine and the fuse was in good shape. The fact that it turns on for prolonged periods of time tells me it's not fuse related, so I'm wondering what else I could check or look at that might help me narrow it down.

Would anyone have any suggestions on what else I might be able to check?
Thank you for your time.

check all connections and swap fuses, it might look fine, but a hairline crack can cause problems, also what is installed? how good is the battery.

I have Sirius XM hooked up to it as well as a backup camera, microphone for hands-free phone conversations and the steering wheel controls (volume & mode) fitted. It has Apple CarPlay so my phone tends to stay plugged in while in the vehicle.

When you ask about the battery are you referring to the car battery itself or some battery in the unit that may be installed?

To be fair I hadn't considered the car battery as a possible offender so I'll check the voltage and make sure it's good to go.

I don't really think a fuse is the issue. If there is a hairline crack, heat will build up as current passes over it and cause it to pop, in my experience. I would look at the harness connections, in particular the power and ground. If those are an issue, it could cut out. Just because it looks ok doesn't mean it's a good connection. Lightly tug on the wires and make sure they don't come apart. Bad grounds can cause all kinds of problems and in turn damage the radio, which may be the case.

Significant amount of intermittent 12v problems are related to poor ground.

So I've had a number of drives now with no issues (probably two hours or more of driving & it's only turned off and then back on once). I called the place that had done the install and they had me bring it back in. They pulled everything out and checked it, test drove it for a bit, and nothing. I'm not entirely convinced that nothing is wrong, but at this point I'm not really sure what else to do other than hope it's working permanently.

I appreciate everyone's time in reading and commenting. Hopefully it's good to go now. (I know, I know...I'm probably being overly optimistic.)

Is there a firmware update for it? I know that I have updated the firmware twice on my Pioneer. I imagine JVC has similar updates.
