Burning smell

I have a '04 with about 110k on the clock. Recently after a 45 minute uphill drive there is a very slight burning smell coming from the right rear area. It's happened several times. I've gone underneath and nothing is touching the exhaust. Pulled the rear wheel and brake disk and found nothing unusual. To my not so perfectly calibrated nose it smells somewhere between hot rubber and electrical insulation. Any ideas?

In my truck it was the rear wheel bearings.

crap i might have that too. i thought it was caliper seized but maybe not...i did replace 2/4 calipers in the last year. as long as its not tranny burning...whats the cost for having a rear wheel bearing replaced these days?

I smelled this but it was coming from the front left wheel well. Turned out to be the wheel bearing. The mechanic said that a few more miles and the wheel would've fallen off.

When I had the wheel off I spun the hub and it seemed ok, no roughness or noise. This was my first thought as well.
