Well, It Finally Happened......

My 2006 4.0 T4R with 215K finally threw a check engine light.
P0430 Cat System, Bank 2

I`ve read conflicting statements ....Is bank 2 the drivers side or Passenger ?
Can I really check the Inlet & outlet temps on the Cat (Manifold) and know if the cat is the issue?
Any thoughts would be appreciated...
Any ideas as to what I should do next?

I think I read on here that Bank-2 is the passenger side. Could be the sensor.

I have received many O2 sensor codes on my other Auto, i keep checking my gas mileage and it always stays the same.

Them O2 sensors are costly and many times hard to remove, i have heard from others that the O2 sensors codes are a great way for dealer stealer's to make a lot of money, also you go to an AutoZone store ask about the check engine code and they will quickly advise you to replace the sensors.

I have been driving a car with that engine light code for O2 sensor for around 12 years, and i don't see any real reason to dish out money on it.

Not implying you should not change it, just saying what i think about it.

I think it's just about time to replace your Cat on both sides including the af sensor and be done with it. Sooner or later the other side will fail too when you least expect it.

Others will suggest to do other things to save you money but if you think you will keep the truck as long as you can, it's worth spending the money.

How about doing something simple like checking for exhaust leaks first.

Or you can just throw new cats and sensors in if you got money like that

OK, thanks for the input.
I will continue to try to find conclusive answers to weather the Bank 2 is passenger or drivers side.

Thank you for that Earthrealm...
I tested the O2 sensor on bank 2 below the cat. It was 13
I also tested the A/F sensor above the cat. It was 2
Both were tested at about 69-70 degrees according to my IR thermometer.

So according to the FSM , they were both within their guidelines.
