I am literally telling you I ran 255/80/17s (a 33.1x 10.2 inch tire) for over 4 years with no body mount chop and no rub. I mapped the Red Clay Rally 2 of those years, and it wasn't until I went with a 285/75/17 that I required a BMC.

Also, you can't just say "285s aren't 33s, they're slightly smaller" I don't believe you are understanding how tires are measured because 285/75/17 is a 34x 11.1 inch tire.

So yes, you CAN run "33s" with the correct wheel offset, lift and ucas and a little know how. I aND many others are testament to this.

I cleared 33s easily running a Dobinsons MRR lift, no sway bar, ICON UCAS and a caster adjustment as far forward as possible. (Usually 4 to 5 degrees forward).

Nothing else required. 34s are when it becomes required.

285/70R17† (32.6 x 11.2)
255/80R17* (33 x 10)

3/2 + 1-1.5" Body Lift
255/85R17† (34 x 10)
285/70R17†
305/65R17† (32.6 x 12)

* requires removal of mud flaps and probably minor trimming
† requires trimming and may require body mount chop (click here for details on body mount chop), upper control arms, and/or increased backspacing.

Add 5 to the middle number for 16" wheels, subtract 5 for 18" wheels (265/75R16=265/70R17=265/65R18)

The above assumes you're using stock wheels and no wheel spacers. Aftermarket wheels or wheel spacers will increase rubbing, more trimming will need to be done in order to fit the listed lift height.”

It’s possible I am currently running 285-70-17 Falken Wildpeak AT tires on ET 0 4.75 BS wheel with 3” icon lift with SPC UCA’s without a BMC. Just had to trim fender liner.

255/75/17 Kumho AT51 here on FJ wheels (15mm offset) and 2" lift = almost no rubbing except reverse full lock on one side...

33's must be 12.5 inches wide or they are not 33's. What is so hard to understand about that concept? If they are not 12.5 inches wide they are "weenie european range rover pizza cutter tires" which is what you have. Also, 285's are STILL not 33's and you yourself mentioned that they rub and they are not even big enough to call 33's yet.

That's just ****ing stupid. Pizza cutter width or 12.5 width, they are both 33" tall, therefore 33s. Where do you get the idea they "have" to be 12.5?? Just because it's your concept doesn't make it fact. Get over yourself with that bullshit.

I got Pizza cutters 33" no bmc. It's like saying that if Ferrari is not red then its not Ferrari, or like someone i knew that used to say that if you turbo your golf and its not 20pounds of boost don't tell anyone that it is boosted.

Its not my concept. Its been that way since off road tires were invented Mr. "xtreme wheeler"...lol! You simply cannot buy a 33.153x10.324x17 tire anywhere.

Its what keeps people from being confused. As an "xtreme wheeler" you should know that already. Oh wait, you have a rooftop tent - you should change your handle to "xtreme overlander"...

No it isn't. Its like having a ferrari with a 4 cylinder engine, which makes it not a ferrari even though from the outside it appears to be one. Or having a 4runner with a chevy motor - not a 4runner anymore even though it appears to be one from the outside. Same concept.

If measuring tape is at 33" .......it's a f..ing 33", X10 or by 12.5 has nothing to do with hight of a tire. The size you describing is a simply a start point for a truck/tractor tire from when you and me weren't born yet. Simple as that.
