Is your loss of power coming on at the same time that the cat codes trigger the CEL? If so I would consider upstream O2 sensors or fuel control causes (vacuum leaks, mass airflow sensor, worn ignition components). Check your fuel trim numbers. Are the P0420 P0430 codes the only ones you get?

at the time of the power loss, zero codes. the CAT codes come later, when car is driving ok. my LT fuel trims are ok as well -2 and 2 .
YES the p0420 and p0430 are the only codes i get, i erase them..they stay off till another hihway drive. they dont come out within the city.

Has this fix stuck? I used to see lots of posts on this topic, and a few hundred miles later the codes were back. It makes sense that the leaking exhaust would throw the code though.

I am about 700 miles since the repair and the codes are gone. I was getting them to come back after about 10 to 20 miles before the repair. Safe to say it was the case at this point. Cheers.

I’m in the same boat. P0430, p0420, al thought as I continue to drive it more and more without fixing it more codes pop up for air/fuel ratio sensors and 02 sensors. Think I’m going to start with replacing the gaskets. Just to be clear these are the gaskets coming from the air/fuel cats coming into a union?

Never mind. I see which ones you took a picture of. Would you recommend replacing the third one going into the Y? I have 3 flanges like that and well they all look like they need replacing. Especially being from Chicago the whole exhaust system looks like crap lol

This is great! I need to try this as I have both of those codes with a check engine light on in my 2003 4runner. The Dealership told me I needed new cats but to cost me at least $2000 from the dealership to put them on, I'm looking at replacing them myself.

Definitely try the gaskets first. They're cheap and you'll need them if you end up needing cat converters anyways.
