x2 on the rear seats.

the sunroof rattle is the worst of the lot in my opinion, but it is easily fixed in most cases (rubber tube spacer and/or a nice thick grease in the track)

Overall, I don't find the interior on my '07 to be very squeaky/rattly.

That rattle is the worst. Any info on the rubber tube spacer?

There are a lot of older threads if you search, but here are a few:

a good post: https://www.toyota-4runner.org/807689-post16.html

from thread: Sunroof rattle is killing me
which has some other things to check/look at also.

grease: Sunroof rattle solved!

I greased the track on my mine with some really thick stuff and it cured my concern, I haven't tried the spacer (plastic washer mod, fuel or other rubber hose, etc) trick yet.

Not answering any OP questions, but my squeaks are from my poly-bushings on the UCA...I need to remove them and re-apply grease to the darn things! Everyone knows it's me when driving and that's just so neat!

I had this shrill squeak that would come and go for months and months... it drove me CRAZY! I was sure it was something to do with the endgate... it wasn't the seat backs (down or up, no change). Replaced the endgate seal, grommets, holders, and the latch. No change... After arriving home one day, especially frustrated, I leaned against the endgate and it squeaked. Hadn't ever done that before. It took 4 seconds to figure out it's the spoiler. The body shop dismounted the spoiler, replaced all the hardware, and squeak is gone.

Lots of clunks from my sway bar bushings wearing out and endlinks breaking over the years.

And my passenger seat sometimes squeaks when no one's sitting in it.

The sun roof cover sorta clunks/rattles when it's not FULLY closed. Every once and a while it needs a little budge to make sure it's fully seated and it shuts up.

And the rear seat dome light likes to squeak occasionally... needs a small adjustment once and a while to make it shut up.

The ol' girl's gettin' some personality to 'er.

occasionally I will hear the sunroof cables, but usually only if its open.

I also hear something from the rear sometimes. I found the 3rd brake light was loose. I believe that's where its coming from, I have yet to tighten it up...

The latch mechanism on the tailgate will squeak like crazy. Grease the latch on the gate and the striker on the body.

I've got a rattle coming from the back (likely tailgate) that I can't track down for the life of me - will have to try this. It's not a squeak, it's a rattle. I pulled the panel off and got in there with a vacuum to get the bits of rust and other stuff out thinking that may be it (the area around where the license plate mounts on one side was/is quite rusted which is where a majority of it came from). I'm going to have to get in there again and poke around for anything loose.

I checked to make sure the panel doors for the passenger side storage and the drives side jack storage and the jack itself is secure, made sure the roof rack is secure etc. I do drive with the back seat down 99% of the time since it's typically dogs and hunting gear when there is something in the back which may contribute but everything seems pretty firm there.

Any other ideas of common rattles from back there welcome!

Is it a brief sound like a baby rattle or rattlesnake that happens mainly when you go over a bump and sometimes comes and goes? If so, it may be your cargo cover. Something inside the main part of it rattles that way if it's not retracted just right. If the noise goes away when you have the cover extended, that's what it is. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what to do about it.

My rear seats are locked back and they still squeak.

I never made a thread about it, because I figured it was just mine. Surprised to see others

Cargo cover is stored in the garage. I have the rear seats down and the whole back open. Now, that said the rattle is a baby rattle or rattlesnake (not that I have heard one!) sound that is consistent but does occur more on rougher roads. There are rare times that it's quiet back there at lower speeds and smooth roads.

I think mine squeak too apparently there was an TSB about them. I just went outside and put that seat down to see if it changes anything. I feel like part of mine is coming from the broken gas lid I have. Also I hear something squeak that sounds like its coming from the rear cargo light area but I'm not sure yet.

Title:
SECOND ROW SEAT BACK NOISE

Models:
'03 - '07 4Runner

March 22, 2004

^ April 11, 2007: 2007 model year has been added to Applicable Vehicles.

^ March 17, 2006: 2004 - 2006 model years have been added to Applicable Vehicles.

Previous versions of this TSB should be discarded.

Introduction

The following field-fix procedure was developed to minimize the possibility of noise from the second row passenger side (right side) seat back latch.

Applicable Vehicles

^ 2003 - 2007 model year 4Runner vehicles.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

For reference refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model year 4 Runner Repair Manual: Exterior/Interior Trim: Roof Headlining Assy: Replacement.

1. Check passenger side second row seat back latch to striker alignment.

2. Determine if the striker is centered in the seat back latch by slowly moving the passenger side second seat back toward the striker. Visually check to see if the striker is centered in the seat back latch.

Wear marks on the top or bottom portion of the striker indicate a possible misalignment issue. If wear marks are found to be on top of the striker, the striker must be adjusted downward to remedy the condition and vice versa.

3. If striker misalignment is detected, continue with step 4.

If the striker is found to be centered in the seat latch and there are NO wear marks evident on the top or bottom surfaces of the striker, the following field fix will NOT be effective.

4. Remove the passenger side second row seat back striker and elongate the bottom mounting hole to allow striker adjustment.

(For necessary interior disassembly instructions to access the second row seat back striker, refer to TIS, applicable model year 4Runner Repair Manual: Exterior/interior Trim: Roof Headlining Assy: Replacement: steps 1 - 23).

A. Remove the three bolts that secure the second row seat back latch striker to the vehicle body.

B. Remove 1 mm of striker plate material from the top and bottom of the bottom striker plate bolt hole to elongate the hole and create striker adjustability as shown in the illustration.

5. Reinstall striker to vehicle body and adjust striker to center of seat latch.

A. Install the passenger side second row seat back striker by threading each of the three (3) bolts into the body. Do NOT tighten the three (3) bolts at this time.

B. Rotate the seat back toward the striker and align the striker in the center of the seat back latch.

C. Tighten the three (3) bolts to secure the striker in place.

6. Reassemble the vehicle interior in reverse order of disassembly.

For reference, refer TIS, applicable model year 4Runner Repair Manual: Exterior/Interior Trim: Roof Headlining Assy: Replacement.
