Decision Time 2007 SE

My wife has been driving a 2020 Lexus NX. When I drive it the safety features are impressive. BSM, RCTA, Intuitive braking. My 4 Runner has mirrors in the rear.

So I want a vehicle with those features but the new 4Runner is a dog (sorry) without V8 option and does not have them. I looked at a Lexus certified GX which does have those features has a V8 and is large enough to do the chores I have. Price as $39k $43OTD. Other option is to purchase a Lexus sedan certified and keep the 4Runner which would make me the happiest.

DW says to consider upcoming repairs (160k miles) on the 4Runner.

The Beast and I are close.

Thoughts?

Thumbs up

Funny, my wife drives a 19 NX, and I’ve got the 4runner and a Lexus CT as a daily. IMO, Keep the runner and buy yourself a daily that gets decent mileage and has the features you want.

For me, I like having a 3rd “just in case” vehicle around and depending on what you do with your 4runner, it’s nice having a 3rd truck/car you can use whenever you need it. You’ll stop putting so many miles on it since it’ll go to occasionally driven duty, and you’ll get to build it into whatever you want if you plan on going off-road.

You said what would make you happiest, what’s the uncertainty?

Good thoughts. My ding is the 4Runner has no active safety except if I crash it.
Like the 3rd car idea...but safety appears to be the paramount. Now one might say is Alaskaman a crazy driver and my reponse is that it's the other guy.

I haven't driven a sedan in 15 years. Plan on doing that today before the Niners/GB game.

Does it have to be a Lexus sedan? What about a Camry? Just throwing it out there because it would be a cheaper option.

I think you should keep the 4Runner and get the GX ... I think that will make you the happiest... I love both vehicles

Honestly if I like a sedan and keep the 4Runner I wil be looking at certified sedans from Lexus, Honda and Toyota. Thanks for the thought....

Just got back from the dealer. 16 GX is not wired for me. I had to look down to see controls and the screen is poorly centered in the dash. Nice vehicle but disappointing.

Kept the 4Runner. Bought a Lexus ES 350 for the new DD. Sweet wheels. Could not part with the Beast.
