What size spare tire fits?

As the title says. I have 265/70/17 on my car. Can I fit the same size spare under the car? I’m needing new tires soon, so I may keep one for a spare if it will fit.

Yes, that will fit.

I can only speak for the V6 model, but I've got a 285/70/17 KO2 on a 17x8 (maybe 17x9) wheel stuffed up under there. It is touching the sway/panhard bar and barely clears the tow package. I've heard that the V8 models have a more substantial tow package, so if you're running a V8 it might be different.

I've fit a 265/70-17 (Cooper AT3) in the spare location, and currently have a 255/75-17 (GY Duratrac) under there. I have the V8 with the larger weight distributing hitch, and didn't have to reduce air pressure to get either one to fit properly.

I've been dying to know as well. I am running Limited wheels and was wondering if 275/70/18 would fit?! By the sound of it, 287/70/17 will barely fit so that probably going to be a no for 18's. I have a V6 Limited for reference.

I apologise, hope I didn't thread jack!

That's a 33.2" tire, so it will almost certainly require airing down to get it into the spare tire location.

As a side note, if you want to fit that in the wheel wells, you will almost certainly need to do the body mount chop. Key word there is almost, as every car is different, but it took me a while to realize that as that is not a common tire size on this site. Not a ton of people running the 18" limited wheels.

Ahh yes a fellow Limited wheel owner. Contrary to what everyone says, I really like the Limited wheels even though they are 18inches. Indeed this is an uncommon tire size!

I am lifted 3 inches with Spidertrax and was hoping not to need a BMC! I guess I really wouldn't know until I get there huh?

I was looking at Duratrac's but was wondering if i wanted it to put a 265/70/18 spare tire with less aggressive tread that it might fit better? I don't mind having to air down the spare tire, it's really just going to live in there for piece of mind. I also have an air compressor on me.

Thank you for the input.

That's why my plan is to go for a 265/70/18. The Falken Wildpeak LT is 32.9" tall, and not as wide as the 275, so I'm hoping I'll be fine.

I'm basing it off this thread when I say you will need a chop:
Biggest Tire Size With This Kit?

That said, google is now picking up other people who seem to be able to pull it off without a chop? I'm confused now

I almost feel like we need to start a limited wheels tires thread somewhere, because the main lift thread is focused on 17s. An 18 changes your UCA clearance among other things.

Before I bought my full size spare I was getting all sorts of different answers. My 06 is a V8 with the bigger tow bar in the back. I was able to stuff a 275/65R18 Cooper STT Pro fully aired up (40psi) and it surprisingly does not rub against the track bar! Its been under there for months and through multiple off road camping trips and so far so good

Please do start that thread! I'd be all about it! I changed my Upper and Lower control arms when i did my suspension. OEM lowers and Taco Uppers.

The limited has a 265/60/18 that fits in the carrier space with a little room to spare. Not thinking there's enough space for a 275/70 but I haven't actually measured it.

A 265-70-17 will fit easily even with the factory tow system. Prob on my V8 is I can't avoid a bit of fender rubbing (front only) once in a while and on heavy snow days. A bigger tire is pointless for me anyway so I went back to stock size.

I do strongly suspect that anything approaching a true 33 and especially a MT with side lugs, will not fit simply...unless you air it way down and squeeze it in there.
