OBDII powered but not connecting to the ECU

So... I had an OBDII scanner plugged in and my partner stepped on it thinking it was the ebrake, getting power to the unit but it's not connecting to the ECU. Any advice?

Check and see if the plug on the body side is damaged or not. I had a similar situation where I had a plug in the OBD for my Torque app and forgot about taking it out when a valet took it for loading on the AutoTrain. They must've kicked it when setting the parking brake and crushed it good. In the end I needed a new plug piece (white part) and had to repin it. Part number is 90980-11978.

I put some tape on the female side and put slight pressure on it and got it to connect! I think a new scanner is in order, or I'm just going to have to deal with it as is. Was hoping it was something easy like this and not a stretched wire. I have a new BAFX replacement coming from amazon tomorrow. The plug definitely broke off from the plastic and is just hanging now. So ultimately, it comes down to a loose connection. Thanks for the part #, I think I'll need to get one ordered.

I am using a ODBII extension cable with a 90 degree end.
I got tired of knocking the Bluetooth reader off...
