completed Bilstein 5100 w/ toytec 2.5" springs and Daystar 2" spacer

So I did my lift today.

I opted for bilstein 5100 all around. Set to lowest on the fronts. I got 2.5" toytec springs to hopefully keep the ride comfortable. I went with 2" daystar spacers for the rear (wasn't sure how this would look.compared to 1.5")

Overall the lift was pretty straight forward. My 4runner is fairly rusty. So the rear shock upper nuts were a pain. Irecomment locking needle nose vice grips on the xreas banjo bolt to keep it from spinning. I had to cut one off but was able to get the other apart.

I find the removal of the XREAS being a "huge mess" to be very over rated. I was underwhelmed haha. But that's not a bad thing.

I removed the sway bar at the frame and removed the link from the knuckle. I also removed the upper control arm bolt and that was it. A hefty amount of prying was needed to get the new setup in up front but it wasn't too bad.

Ride quality is excellent and I am very happy with the results. I have only driven it a dozen miles or so... So I can't comment to highway driving. Also I need an alignment. So I will update afterwards.

Here's some photos for anyone contemplating this setup. Feel free to move this post if it doesn't belong here. Thanks for reading. Cheers.

Before and after. Driveway is sloped, so not the best for pics but it's what I've got.

Looking good! The lift is only the beginning of more mods to come.

Can I ask why you went with spacers in the rear instead of coils? I'm trying to figure out lift options for my rig and curious about this.

2 reasons.... 1) becuase I plan to tow a boat with the vehicle and I'm hoping stock is better for this than a lift spring would be. I won't be 4wheeling this rig so I don't need articulation. Just some camp roads and whatnot tks get to trailheads. 2)it was a cheap way to get the level of lift i wanted for the rear.

I may end up doing rear coils at some point. But this was a good start and now I know what ride height I want.
