Rear wiper and defroster not working after replacing spark plugs.

Last week I changed oil, changed plugs, and put a new air filter in our 07 with 158k miles on it. Then I noticed the other day that the rear wiper, rear washer, and rear defroster are no longer working. I checked all relevant fuses and they are all good.

Any ideas?

I did disconnect the air flow sensor (at least I think that is what it was) wire connection on the air filter box. I removed the whole air filter/plastic intake assembly to make it easier to get to the plugs. I did start it up with this disconnected because I wanted to make sure it was running fine with the new plugs before I put everything back together, this did cause the check engine light to come on, I had to disconnect the battery to reset the code, but it never came back after I connected the sensor back up.

Thanks for any help.

If you disconnected the battery, I'm surprised that your driver side auto up feature (and maybe the sunroof) still works right.

Others can chime in here or you can search the forum, but I believe that if power is ever disconnected, you have to go through a 'relearn' procedure for the back window...the BCM needs to relearn when the window is open and closed.

I've done this before by using the dash button to open and close the rear window a few times. If the window really has to go through the relearn procedure, the auto up and down should not be working until it relearns the close and open positions, so you will need to hold the button down until it becomes fully open and closed...repeat.

I believe the BCM disables the rear wiper/washer (defroster, too?) to prevent inadvertent operation of those features when the window is open or partially open or when it doesn't know exactly what position it is in.

You may have to go through a similar procedure for your driver side window and sunroof, if you have it.

Is the window all the way up?

Needs to be fully up for those functions to work.

Rolling the back window all the way down then back up again fixed it.

Thanks everyone! Wish every auto problem was this easy to fix.
