Brakes...Drum & Disk Gen 4

My Gen 4 is having issue's while braking and a mech who put on my new Michelin Defenders, (awesome BTW) told me my drum brakes where worn and that the drum itself looks warped. The little lady has 223,000 miles on her so I'm figuring some new brakes all around with new drums would be a nice upgrade.

Can anyone recommend the best type of brake pads, shoes, and new drums?

Is ceramic still the best option? They MUST be quiet as well! That's a big one, I can't take noisy brakes.

Thanks everyone.

Take it to a different mechanic. The rear drum brakes are only used as parking brakes. Your 4th gen has calipers/rotors on all 4 corners.

I do understand that, but he claims that the drum is somehow affecting the performance of the rotors? I've never heard of that...ever.
I think your right though, I'll take it somewhere else to see what they say.

May be time for new rotors. I don't see how the drum part would cause an issue but if the rotors are old then it may be time. I went with Centric coated rotors all the way around with Okibono pads. All from Rockauto, so far they've worked great. I researched here before buying them. The rears are over a year old I think and fronts are a bit newer but not much. Don't be surprised if you pull the rear rotor/drum off and find a mess on the E-brake components or a sticking caliper. My E-brake parts all needed to replaced as I think they were original. That task is not simple, tight spaces.
