I misread your OP and my mine's eye saw V8, but all internal combustion engines operate much the same and carbon buildup is a common problem, which the V6 using copper spark plugs it is very important to replace them the recommended every 30,000 miles or they don't burn the fuel mixture efficiently and thusly the carbon buildup is much more than normal and at some point could cause other problems.
Also just keep in mnid that romping on the gas pedal often will greatly affect the gas mileage, so I don't do too it often nor all the way to the floor just enough to quickly kick it into passing gear as if you were trying to pass a slower vehicle on the busy road, and also never so long so it "redlines" on the tach.
