Need good mechanic SoCal
2003 Toyota 4Runner 4.7L (V8). 221,000 miles. I need the following things replaced.
1. Timing belt & water pump.
2. Alternator & starter
3. Front shocks
4. Radiator & fan clutch
How much would the labor cost me? Can someone refer me to a good mechanic in SoCal who can do all of these things. PM me or post a reply.

You're in LA and referencing SoCal. SoCal also includes San Diego. Are you willing to drive 2hrs for a good mechanic? One of the best Toyota shops I know of is in San Diego, sdtruckshop.com. They are off Miramar Rd.

1. ~$1000~
2. ~$250~, ~$500~ (starter is under intake manifold)
3. Depends on parts used
4. ~$250-350~, ~$150~
I have done all the above to my truck, and did all work myself minus the starter, but my mechanic gave me that price when I asked about it (turned out not to be the issue I was having). Those are prices for parts and labor btw. Prices for all can probably come down if done all at once. Good luck.
Shop around online for parts. Btw I used all OEM parts Denso, Mitsuboshi, Aisin, etc. I recommend the same. Found some on Amazon and some on Rockauto.

Look up K&H in Canoga Park. They do mostly Toyota SUVs. Every time I'm going by there the lot is full of 4runners and land cruisers. I have several friends who have used them and they seem to know what they are doing, and they seem fairly reasonable in price.

Does anyone know of any good 4Runner mechanic that charges under $75 per hour for labor in SoCal?

Found a good mechanic in La Cresenta, CA. RS Auto Works. Owner drives a 4th gen 4Runner overland. Very fair price and he is more knowledgeable than most mechanics I’ve come across. He loves his 4Runner. They specialize in Toyota trucks and hybrids.

I was just going to recommend Richard. He did my V8 maintenance (timing belt etc) 2 weeks ago! He's great and took very good care of my newly acquired V8 4x4.
